I have come to the realisation that the world is depending more and more on the internet and its functions. Corporations’ themselves have taken the opportunity to use blogging as a strategy.
This communication opportunity is increasingly become very popular and successful if done in the right way. However, if corporation do not using blogging in the right manner, it could backfire on their reputation.
Douglas Karr has given some strategies on how to successfully implement corporate blogging:
- Create a blog committee – their task will be to control the content of the blogs and give approval for the blogs to be posted.
- Ensuring and encouraging the blog committee and the bloggers to read other blogs to get inspirations and advice.
- Define and identify the vision, purpose and focused topics of the blog – results than can be measured against these criteria
- Storytelling though the blogs – readers will be educated more effectively because that are being taught at a more personal level
- Participation with your readers – this will create an atmosphere where readers’ feel comfortable to give feedback and comments. Gain your readers’ trust by responding quickly so that their trust towards the company also increases.
- CREATING MOMENTUM- blogs are about the SERIES of POSTS not just the post. Continuality and regularity of posts and info is able to build a strong reputation.

Starbucks maybe one of the leaders in social media marketing and has taken the advantage of using their blog as a brainstorming tool. The blog is a place where customers are able to give and put across their ideas for basically anything related with Starbucks, this can range from drinks to even store designs. These then are built on other readers ideas which can lead to “customer” satisfying products.
