I believe that you have heard about EA games or Electronics Art Company. But, for you that might have not known. EA Games Company is a company that has produced various games and still assisting all of the gamer to get the maximum fun in playing game. EA games Company itself incorporated on May 28 1982. EA Games Company employs 8000 employees in 2010. EA has developed internet-based gaming. Some of their games are Battlefield, Burnout, Star wars, The Sims, and many others. At this chance, we will not discuss about the latest game or even the games rating. Instead, we will be discussing about the Legal Risk of Implementing Social media.

In assisting the customer EA games tries to for a big company like EA must have a special strategy to communicate with their customer. One of the ways is using social media such as, Facebook, Twitter and their own forum to keep their customer up to date, get feedback from their user, and give convenience to their online shopper.
By implementing social media, there are some risks that EA games should consider in relation with legal risk.
- Data security
- As big company with huge customers, EA game will be one of targets of cyber criminal. EA Company holds thousand of credit card detail and customer information. We can imagine if EA Company does not have security that is strong enough to deal with threat of hacking.

- Uncontrollable Information
- By providing users with forum or social media, customer will be able to interact with each other. This thing could be a good thing when the information that is provided by customer is correct and helpful. But what if there is customer that is spreading the harmful information? Even though it is not in the form of viruses. But it could be dangerous for customer that is categorized as ‘newbie’ in using the technology.
- Losing trust of customer
- To maintain large number of customer is one of big challenges for EA. Keeping the server stable is a must in order to keep the trust of the customer to the quality of service. In addition, it impacts the image of the company’s name. So that communication through social media should be always maintained maximally.
However, it is crucial for EA to keep implementing social media into their company. For the reason that social media creates good culture in the cyber world such as sharing, being creative, and watchful.
Sharing – as social media has been made to fulfil the need of people to share information, data, knowledge and ability
Being creative – as everyone needs to give the best information in sharing.
Watchful – help people to think twice before making an action.
In conclusion, that is crucial that EA can provide the needs of their customer with the culture of social media that has been a trend and offer it in gaming world.
